This quick and easy healthy dessert is perfect for you or your loved ones. Make it for special occasions like gatherings, Valentine's Day or whenever you're craving something sweet but don't have much time to cook. I made these treats to celebrate March 11th, so they are decorated in the colors of the national Lithuanian flag, but you can embellish them however you like - with nuts, coconut flakes, freeze-dried berries or anything else you prefer.

Ingredients

  • Medjool dates

  • Chocolate bar (I use at least 70% cocoa)

  • For decoration: chopped nuts, bee pollen, coconut flakes, freeze-dried berries or other toppings.

Instructions

I start with preparing Medjool dates.

Carefully, I remove the pits. When I take the pit out of the date, I try to split it open halfway and then I shape the date into a heart with my fingers.

I melt chocolate in a double boiler.

I dip each date into the melted chocolate, roll it around and place it on a plate lined with parchment paper (if you don't use the paper, it will be difficult to remove the candy from the plate later). While the chocolate is still soft, I decorate it with my chosen toppings. I repeat this process with all the dates.

I place the candies in the refrigerator for at least a few hours until the chocolate hardens.

I keep the candies in the refrigerator until they are ready to be served.

BON APPETIT!
