Plantains are fruits that closely resemble bananas but they are larger, firmer and less sweet. They are typically eaten only after being cooked - fried, boiled or grilled. Plantains are very popular in the cuisines of Latin America, Africa and the Caribbean. Today, I will share a delicious idea for preparing them without oil, making for a healthy snack alternative to chips.

Ingredients
2 ripe plantains
spices: salt, cumin, smoked paprika
Instructions
Peel the plantains (which are much harder to peel than bananas).
Slice it into 1.5-2 cm thick pieces, sprinkle with spices and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 20 minutes.
Remove from the oven and press each plantain with the bottom of a glass (to flatten them) before putting them back in the oven for another 10 minutes.
Serve with guacamole, hummus or baba ganoush as dips.
BON APPETIT!
